Grant
Research Council of Norway (Forskningsrådet) Worldwide 2026

Information

Radical Research Ideas for Early Career Scientists is a Research Council of Norway call to fund curiosity-driven and bold research across all research areas. It is aimed at early-career researchers to test particularly bold, high-risk ideas that currently lack sufficient preliminary results for larger project calls. Successful project managers may later apply for larger FRIPRO projects and be prioritized for phased funding.

Benefits

Project funding to test high-risk, high-reward research ideas and eligibility for phased follow-on funding and competition for larger FRIPRO projects.

Eligibility

Project managers should be 2–7 years after PhD (early-career researchers).

Application

Apply via the Research Council of Norway application portal; applications are peer reviewed by three reviewers (graded A–C) and require two top marks (A-A or A-B) to qualify for funding.
