UBC Public Scholars Award

The UBC Public Scholars Award is a doctoral fellowship that provides funding to doctoral students to pursue public-engaged scholarship at the University of British Columbia. It supports students who want to link their research to public benefit and broaden the scope of doctoral education beyond traditional academia. Awards include a research allowance and a stipend, with the possibility of renewal for a second year.

Research allowance (including professional development or travel) and student stipend, with potential renewal funding for a second year.

Open to UBC Vancouver or Okanagan doctoral students in years 1–5 (exceptional cases in year 6), who have completed no more than 48 months of doctoral study by 31 August 2026 and are registered in a UBC doctoral program as of 1 September 2026.
