Information

Starter Grants for Clinical Lecturers provide small research grants for research-active clinical lecturers (or equivalent veterinary clinicians) to pursue research work, gather preliminary data and strengthen applications for longer-term funding. Grants offer up to £30,000 spread over one to two years and may be used for directly incurred research costs such as consumables and equipment. The funding cannot be used for personal salary costs, research assistants, PhD students or postdoctoral staff, although part may be used to buy the time of existing staff.

Benefits

Up to £30,000 in research funding over one to two years to cover directly incurred research costs (consumables, equipment).

Eligibility

Applicants must be research-active clinical lecturers (or the equivalent for veterinary clinicians), hold a PhD or MD, hold a medical, dental or veterinary undergraduate degree, and be in higher speciality training.

Application

Apply via the Academy of Medical Sciences (applications considered twice a year: March and September rounds with committee review in June and December).
