IMF Economist Program 2027

The IMF Economist Program (EP) is the IMF’s flagship entry program for PhD economists. It offers recent PhD graduates or those within one year of completion the chance to work on country work, policy development, and capacity building through a three-year rotational experience at IMF Headquarters in Washington, D.C. Participants contribute from the outset as economists, rotating through two departmental assignments and engaging with macroeconomic policy, research, and capacity development activities.

Applicants should be recent PhD graduates or within one year of completing a PhD in economics or a related field, and must be a national of an IMF member country; applicants must be under age 34 at entry.
