IMF Economist Program 2024-2025

The IMF Economist Program (EP) is a three-year fellowship-like programme that offers hands-on experience across IMF work, with rotations through regional and country-focused teams and exposure to policy development, research, and capacity-building. It targets young economists and provides real responsibilities from the start rather than a trainee position, with the aim of building a long-term IMF economist career.

They seek top economists who have recently completed or are expected to complete a PhD within a year of joining, with strong macroeconomics foundations, an excellent academic record, analytical and IT skills, and are nationals of IMF member countries; candidates should be below age 34 at program entry.
