BHF Infrastructure Grants

The BHF Infrastructure Grants provide funds towards the cost of essential infrastructure to support cardiovascular science at UK academic institutions. Awards are intended for senior cardiovascular scientists and to support the work of multiple groups and research activities within institutions demonstrating strong commitment to cardiovascular research. Grants may be used for building refurbishment or major equipment but cannot be used for recurrent expenses such as salaries or consumables. Applicants must normally demonstrate substantial local co-funding for the proposed infrastructure.

Funding of up to £1 million towards building refurbishment or major equipment to support multiple cardiovascular research groups; cannot fund salaries or consumables.

Applications are accessible to senior cardiovascular scientists at UK academic institutions; a lead investigator with an established reputation in clinical or basic cardiovascular science is required, with co-applicants who have a record of high-quality research. Applicants must demonstrate substantial institutional commitment and typically that around half of the required funds are available locally.

Submit a preliminary outline online at least 18 months before the expected start date and await approval (allow one month for consideration); approved preliminary applications proceed to an online full application including a formal Case for Support and supporting documentation.
