Strategic Awards

The Strategic Awards are large capital awards offered by the British Heart Foundation to support a major research institution's cardiovascular research strategy. The awards are intended to contribute to overall costs of a strategy and to enable institutions to lever additional funds from other sources. Awards are made following prior discussion and approval by the BHF Medical Director. The foundation is unlikely to make more than one such award to any institution in a five year period.

Major research institutions may apply; initial approach should include a letter from the Dean to the BHF Medical Director summarising the proposal and its fit with the organisation's cardiovascular research strategy.

Submit an initial letter from the Dean to the BHF Medical Director summarising the proposal; discuss informally with the Medical Director; if appropriate request a preliminary application form from researchgrants@bhf.org.uk.
