Transitioning from Industry to Academia fellowships

The Transitioning from Industry to Academia fellowships are BHF-funded fellowships that open selected Discovery Research fellowship schemes to applicants returning from industry. Eligible applicants may apply to the Discovery Research Early Career Fellowship, Discovery Research Future Leaders Fellowship or Discovery Research Senior Fellowship. Applicants must have an established UK academic host institution prior to application and meet the existing entry requirements of each fellowship scheme.

Post-doctoral scientists who, at the time of application submission, either hold a current position in industry or have worked in industry in the last 2 years. Applicants must have an established UK academic host institution prior to applying. Eligible applicants will come from non-academic and non-NHS entities including SMEs, biotechnology, medtech, software and digital health companies and pharmaceutical companies. Existing entry requirements for each fellowship scheme apply.

Complete all sections of the online application form on the individual fellowship scheme pages and indicate that the applicant is re-entering academia from industry; provide research background, description of industrial role and motivation statement.
