Information
The Franklin Research Grants are project grants awarded to scholars to support research leading to publication across the arts, humanities, social sciences, and related areas. Grants are intended to meet costs such as travel to libraries and archives, purchase of research materials, fieldwork expenses, or laboratory research costs for noncommercial research. Awards are small grants payable to the individual applicant and are not intended to cover conference attendance, publication costs, institutional overhead, or salary replacement. Funding is offered up to a maximum of $7,000.
Benefits
Project funding up to $7,000 to cover travel to libraries and archives, purchase of microfilm/photocopies/research materials, fieldwork costs, or laboratory research expenses.
Eligibility
Applicants are expected to have a doctorate or published work of doctoral character and quality; Ph.D. candidates are not eligible. Independent scholars and faculty at two- and four-year institutions may apply; applicants who previously received a Franklin grant may reapply after an interval of two years.
