Information

The Early Music Organizational Grants provide funding for programming focused on the study, teaching, and performance of music before c. 1600. Grants support projects that build and sustain research skills and professional expertise in areas such as paleography, codicology, organology, notation studies, languages and liturgy, archival practices, and historically informed performance when paired with educational programming. The program is administered by the Coalition of Music Organizations in partnership with the American Musicological Society.

Benefits

Grant funding for organizational projects (eligible awards considered up to $5,000; Coalition offers small grants in the $1,000–$10,000 range).

Eligibility

Eligibility is restricted to current institutional members of the Coalition of Music Organizations. Organizations may apply for an Early Music Organizational Grant even if they received one in the previous year, though preference will be given to applicants who have not recently received a grant.

Institutional members submit required materials (project title, 150-word summary, up to 500-word proposal, personnel list, description of expenses, and itemized budget) via the online application form.
