Information

The International Journalists’ Programmes Fellowships for Journalists from the Middle East and Germany 2026 offers a two-month travel and work scholarship for journalists from specified Middle Eastern countries to Germany, and for German journalists to the Middle East. Fellows receive a stipend and travel allowance to cover travel, food and accommodation costs. The program is designed to foster dialogue between media outlets in a conflict-affected region and to provide participants with experience and exposure to the partner country’s political context.

Benefits

Two-month travel and work scholarship for Germany (or the Middle East for German journalists) plus a one-time €5,000 stipend and €1,000 travel allowance.

Eligibility

Applications may be submitted by any citizen of Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestinian Territories or Israel. Applicants should be aged between 21 and 37, and must be working as a regular employee, trainee or journalist for established media outlets.

Submit a detailed CV with a passport photo and a recommendation letter from the head of department or editor-in-chief; work samples may be included. Send applications to freiling@ijp.org and office@ijp.org. Knowledge of English is required; knowledge of German is welcome but not essential.
