The Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) Program is a fully funded teaching assistantship that enables early-career educators from participating countries to teach their native language and culture at U.S. institutions of higher education while developing professional skills. It is open to individuals who wish to teach Hausa or Yoruba languages and cultures to American students in U.S. universities and colleges. Multiple awards are offered annually across participating countries.

Round-trip airfare to the U.S., settling-in allowance, monthly stipend, housing allowance, health insurance, tuition scholarship for coursework, participation in orientation and enrichment seminars.

Eligibility

Open to early-career teachers of English or related fields who reside in their country of nomination and hold at least a Bachelor’s degree; preference for candidates who can teach their native language and culture in the U.S.
