The L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science Sub-Saharan Africa Programme 2026 is a funding and recognition opportunity for women scientists in SSA. It invites doctoral and post-doctoral researchers from 49 Sub-Saharan African countries to apply for research across Formal & Life Sciences, Environmental & Physical Sciences, and Engineering & Technological Sciences. The programme offers monetary awards of €10,000 for doctoral candidates and €15,000 for post-doctoral researchers, supporting outstanding science and international visibility.

Eligibility

Citizenship in one of the 49 Sub-Saharan African countries (including South Africa) and active research in a laboratory or institution within one of these countries; doctoral candidates in their second year or higher, or post-doctoral researchers who have started their work before the call opened; must meet the stated field requirements and other conditions described in the call.
