The United Nations – Nippon Foundation Fellowship is a nine-month programme designed to enhance the skills and knowledge of mid-level government officials and professionals from developing states in ocean affairs and the law of the sea. The fellowship provides research, training and academic study, with phases conducted at the United Nations headquarters and at host institutions.

Mid-level government officials or mid-level professionals dealing directly with ocean affairs and/or the law of the sea, from developing states, between 25 and 40 years of age
