Jointly organized by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) and the United Nations University (UNU), the JSPS–UNU Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme 2026 provides postdoctoral fellowships for young researchers to conduct advanced research in sustainability under host researchers at domestic universities and research institutions across Japan. The programme is aimed at candidates who have recently completed their doctorates and who have professional and/or research experience. Fellows conduct research under the supervision of a host researcher, with opportunities to be hosted by UNU-IAS.

Eligibility
Applicants must hold a doctoral degree (received on or after 2 April 2020) or be scheduled to receive a doctoral diploma by the end of July 2026, and must be citizens of countries that have diplomatic relations with Japan. Japanese nationals and permanent residents of Japan are not eligible.
