Alexander von Humboldt Foundation International Climate Protection Fellowship 2026

The International Climate Protection Fellowship funds a one-year research project in Germany for prospective leaders working practically, or 12-24 months for postdocs, focusing on climate protection, climate-relevant resource conservation, or related sustainability topics. The program is funded through the International Climate Initiative and supports fellows with stipends, housing and additional allowances, plus networking and alumni opportunities. Up to 15 fellowships for prospective leaders and up to five for postdocs are awarded each year.

Monthly fellowship amounts, additional allowances for accompanying partners and children, travel expenses, health insurance, language courses, an introductory event, and extensive alumni sponsorship.

Citizens of non-European developing or transition countries who have leadership experience and relevant qualifications; applicants may be prospective leaders (practical work) or postdocs.

Submit an application with personal information, motivation letter, research project description, two letters of recommendation, and a mentoring agreement via the Humboldt Foundation's application system.
