Information

The Japan Africa Dream Scholarship (JADS) is a two-year capacity-building scholarship program for high-achieving African students to pursue master's level studies in energy, agriculture, health, environmental sustainability, and engineering. It is funded by the African Development Bank and the Government of Japan. Scholars receive tuition coverage, a monthly living stipend, travel, health insurance, and possible additional support for preparatory study or internships, with the expectation to return home after completion to contribute to development in their countries.

Eligibility

Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in energy, agriculture, health, environmental sustainability, engineering, or related fields; at least 1 year of paid employment in the home country or other African countries within the past 3 years; be 35 years old or younger; gain admission to an approved master’s degree at a partner university in Japan or Africa; must be a citizen of one of the African Development Bank’s regional member countries; must not be enrolled in another graduate program; and must not be an executive director or close relative of ADB staff.

Application

Request information and application procedures from the chosen partner university, complete and submit admission application, university evaluates and issues provisional offer, list of selected candidates is shared with the program unit for final evaluation; successful candidates are informed by the African Development Bank.
