Information

The AfDB Japan Africa Dream Scholarship (JADS) Program funds graduate study in energy development and related disciplines for African nationals at selected institutions in Japan. It covers tuition, admissions fees, a monthly subsistence allowance, and economy class travel between the home country and Japan. The program targets young Africans with professional experience and a record of contributing to development in their country, who have a bachelor’s degree and are not currently enrolled in a graduate program.

Eligibility

Applicants must be nationals of AfDB member countries, be 35 years old or younger, hold at least a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, have at least one year of paid work experience after the degree within the last three years, not be enrolled in a graduate degree at the time of application, and intend to return to their home country after completing studies.

Application

Submit an application through the APU online application system for April 2027 or September 2027 enrollment; shortlisted candidates are reviewed by APU and AfDB-JADS, with final awards decided by AfDB-JADS around June
