About this opportunity
A ten-week summer research program run by the Departments of Physics, Applied Physics and SLAC for Stanford undergraduates to join a physics research group under faculty guidance. The program aims to encourage completion of Senior Theses and to give early undergraduate experience in physics research. Participants attend weekly professional development workshops, may take optional field trips (e.g. SLAC, Stanford Student Observatory) and give a short research presentation at the end of the program. The 2026 summer session runs June 22 to August 28, 2026.
Benefits & funding
Base stipend of $8500; up to $1500 need-based supplement for qualifying students; weekly professional development workshops; optional field trips; final research presentation.
Eligibility
Open to Stanford current freshmen, sophomores, and juniors; specifically Stanford undergraduate Physics and Engineering Physics majors, plus undeclared first-year students who are considering Physics/Engineering Physics as a major.
