Travel Grants

🏛 Society for Mathematical Biology 📍 Worldwide 📅 2026

About this opportunity

Grants of up to $750 to facilitate attendance and participation at mathematical biology meetings other than the Society for Mathematical Biology Annual Meeting. The awards prioritise active and current Society members, with preference for junior scientists such as students, post-docs and non-tenured junior faculty who lack sufficient travel funds. Applicants must be active participants in the meeting (giving a paper or poster or attending a relevant course). Priority is given to those who have not received an SMB travel grant within the last five years.

Benefits & funding

Up to $750 in travel funding to support attendance and participation at eligible meetings.

Eligibility

Applicants must be active and current members of the Society, with membership required for at least one year prior to requesting funds. Preference is given to junior scientists (students, post-docs, and non-tenured junior faculty); applicants must be active participants in the meeting for which funds are requested.

How to apply

Prepare a letter stating meeting details and how attendance contributes to research, indicate professional status, include an abstract or description of intended participation, a summary of expected travel expenses and other funding, and a letter of recommendation.
