Fields–Mitacs Undergraduate Summer Research Program (FUSRP) 2026

A 9-week undergraduate research program hosted at the Fields Institute (Toronto) in collaboration with Mitacs and the University of Toronto, offering mentored research projects in mathematics and related quantitative areas. The program provides collaborative research experience, professional development activities and access to research facilities. It is aimed at strong undergraduate students in mathematics, computer science, data science or closely related disciplines. Final selection is made by the Fields–Mitacs program following institutional nomination.

Monetary award (up to CAD 8,000), airfare support, housing and meal support, health insurance, office/desk space, access to research facilities, supervised research projects, and professional development/networking activities.

Strong undergraduate students in mathematics, computer science, data science, or closely related quantitative disciplines with an excellent academic record (typically ~85% or equivalent) and proficiency in English; interest in research and further study required.

IIT Madras students must be nominated by IITM through an internal nomination form; prepare CV, cover letter (max 500 words), transcripts, project preferences (up to 3), and 2 mandatory + 1 optional reference letters; do not apply directly to Fields.
